Intercultural Approach
The Lauder Business School offers programmes in Intercultural Business Administration (Bachelor) and Intercultural Management and Leadership (Master) with a core research on “Knowledge transfer in multicultural environments”. Raising awareness about cultural diversity constitutes a primary goal of education at the LBS and prepares graduates for the challenges of intercultural communication in future management positions.
LBS campus life is intercultural in itself: students from over 30 countries and varied educational backgrounds make the LBS a microcosm of intercultural communication.
Language is not simply a communicative tool. Language transfers meaning, influences understanding and shapes reality. The LBS’s language lecturers build bridges for students and graduates to explore new and unknown countries and societies, while consistently reflecting on one’s own assumptions and perceptions of self and other.
We aim to inspire intellectual curiosity and strengthen critical viewpoints. While we continue to teach and acknowledge the importance of topics such as spelling and grammar, the classroom atmosphere is interactive and communicative from the outset. Lecturers of foreign languages (i.e. French, German, Hebrew, Russian, Spanish) guide course participants from the novice level toward authentic access to the rich, multifaceted environments where these languages are used. Topics discussed in class are culled from everyday life experience in the respective countries and thus provide students with insights into their potential future professional and academic surroundings.
