Language Selection

The LBS Library

Welcome to the LBS library!

In correspondence with the LBS’s academic programs and research focus, the library collects books and other media on a wide range of business and economics subjects, interculturality and diversity, as well as language textbooks and dictionaries. These principal holdings are supplemented by literature from fields such as law, psychology, philosophy, business ethics and politics. Moreover, a selection of books on Austrian history and culture particularly addresses the LBS’s international students. At least one copy of each compulsory course reading is available. Books reviewed by LBS faculty are likewise on display in the library.

Starting with the academic year 2011-12, LBS has become a cooperation partner of the electronic media consortium Kooperation E-Medien, and is currently subscribed to EBSCO Business Source Elite. This top-ranked database contains a total of 1800 indexed and abstracted journals and magazines, and almost 1000 journals and magazines in full text (half of which are peer-reviewed), plus multiple other sources such as more than 10.000 company profiles, country reports and conference proceedings. Paying tribute to the ever growing significance of refereed journal articles, LBS seeks to continuously invest in database licenses.

Library services and up-to-date technology are the fundamentals for successful exam preparation, thesis writing and advanced research as well as reading for further interest. On this website, users can find advice on library research strategies, the shelfmark system  and the keyword list (thesaurus). Compliance with the terms of use and library regulations is a crucial prerequisite for the smooth functioning of the library. The LBS library is monitored by CCTV surveillance, all books are secured with RFID marks, and routine checks will be made by the library staff. The violation of any LBS library regulation will automatically be sanctioned.

Access to the library and its online catalogue and databases is restricted to holders of an LBS library ID. Opening hours can vary during holidays or exceptionally change at short notice. For inquiries or acquisition proposals please contact library@lbs.ac.at. The holdings of most academic libraries in Austria can be accessed via the centralized Verbundkatalog.
