On April 18, 2018, we were privileged to host Dr. Florian Koschat, the CEO of Pallas Capital Advisory AG as part of the Fireplace Talks at Lauder Business School. During the session introduced by Lauder Business School’s Executive Director Alexander Zirkler, Dr. Koschat gave insight into his company operations, his personal path to success and a very strong motivational speech for our students.

The audience learned that Pallas Capital specializes in investment banking. They support their clients in the purchase and sale of entire companies or shares in companies and help them set up the necessary financing structures for expansion. Moreover, Pallas Capital offers consulting services with comprehensive advice and powerful support while negotiating complex transactions.

However, how did it all start?

Dr. Koschat shared with us his early childhood memories from a middle-income family in Carinthia, “One day I was going to school, with my heavy backpack struggling through the bus crowd. Then at school, I saw another schoolboy being dropped off by his father in a Mercedes S class. At this point, I realized that I want to be rich when I grow up. My family explained to me that it is good health that matters; still, this wasn’t enough, I had this dream and financial goals in my mind. I founded my company at the age of 30, and I am very happy to have enjoyed 13 successful years of business.”

In continuation he led an open discussion with our students, asking them about their dreams and financial goals. In his motivational speech, he encouraged our students to already develop a plan and have a goal in their mind at this stage. When he was young and just starting, one of the most important acquisitions he closed was due to his drive and enthusiasm, or as one of the key decision-makers explained “Florian, you landed this deal because of the fire in your eyes.”

In closing, Dr. Koschat answered students’ questions and encouraged them to apply for open positions at his company.

We thank Dr. Koschat for his visit and for the very inspiring Fireplace Talk at LBS!
