The very first fireplace talk took place in the ballroom of Lauder Business School. As this talk launched a row of ten talks the audience was comprised of lecturers from various Austrian Universities of Applied Sciences as well as political offices. After a short introduction of the talk series held by the overall program manager Barbara Good from FHWien der WKW, LBS lecturer Ing. Andreas Schachenhuber, MA presented a glimpse into possible future business strategies following the past major eruptions in business models. These were often driven by digitalization and the fact that huge companies, which once had a strong influence in their business segments on the market, reacted too late or too little to the changes in providing their products to end customers.

Andreas Schachenhuber gave a presentation full of examples like the music industry, pointing out the switch from CDs and cassettes to digital music and the concurrent changes of customer needs and expectations. An outlook of future business models completed the demonstration, after which the audience took part in a lively discussion. While the evening’s program was rounded, the guests found the event a welcome opportunity to enhance their own professional network.

The next talk with the title “COIL – Collaborative Online International [email protected] der WKW” will be presented by Kirstie Riedl at the FHWien der WKW on Tuesday, February 18 at 7.00 p.m.

The Economics of Climate Change

Christian Reiner, senior researcher at LBS, was invited by the Carinthian Economic Society (Volkswirtschaftliche Gesellschaft Kärnten) to deliver a talk on the economics of climate change. About 100 visitors attended the talk on October 3rd 2019 in Klagenfurt, Carinthia’s capital. Mr Reiner stressed the economic case for ambitious climate policy as well as the chances for business.

Master Class of 2019 – Congratulations!

On September 20, we were delighted to welcome many proud families and friends to the Lauder Business School campus for a Masters graduation ceremony. The ceremony started with a welcoming speech by our Executive Director Alexander Zirkler in the beautiful baroque LBS ballroom. In his address, he highlighted the international quality of both our Master programs and drew the parallel: “The value of your diplomas will increase in time like the value of a good painting.”
